Brant is reconnecting with nature! County of Brant Community Services staff are working to develop a Letterboxing Network and partnering with community service clubs to form Neighbourhood Nature Clubs. Join us in the great outdoors in the communities of Burford, Glen Morris, Mount Pleasant, Oakland-Scotland, and Onondaga.
Your Family is Invited!
These nature-based recreation opportunities will be low cost and encourage participation in activities year-round. The Library and Community Services invite you to participate in Letterboxing workshops where your family will create your own letterboxing stamp and journal so you are ready to go out and explore!
Letterboxing Workshops in the County of Brant - Free programs. Registration required. Register online, by phone, or in branch at the County of Brant Public Library beginning Saturday, December 2, 2017. YOU MUST REGISTER SEPARATELY FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER ATTENDING AS SPACE IS LIMITED. (Children must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver to attend.)
What is Letterboxing?
An outdoor hobby that combines elements of hiking, treasure hunting, and puzzle solving. Letterboxes contain a stamp that is unique to that box. Finders locate the letterbox, stamp their own journal with the letterbox's stamp, and in turn stamp the letterbox's journal with their personalized family stamp!
Letterboxers: Hide small weatherproof boxes that are placed in accessible locations to the public. Clues are then distributed on websites (www.atlasquest.com) or by word of mouth.
Finders: Create a trail name and their own personalized letterboxing kit that consists of a personalized stamp, journal, and whatever else they would like!
